Errington Primary School, Part of Tees Valley Collaborative Trust (TVCT) is praised for commitment to healthy lives.
Billy, a pupil at Errington Primary School has featured in an inspiring video created by the School Games programme which has seen him grow as a person and face some challenging times.
The School Games programme, part of The Youth Sport Trust equips educators and empowers young people with the vision of creating a future where every child enjoys the life-changing benefits of play and sport.
Sport gives young people a platform to have their voice heard and a place to feel they belong.
Sarah Rule, Head Teacher commented: I am elated that all our efforts have ensured that our curriculum has physical activity at its heart, and how this can have such an impact.
Finding something within a school that can excite, interest and then motivate a pupil is what we do daily, we are extremely proud to see the changes within Billy and other children as they find their drive and determination to succeed.”
The Youth Sport Trust have personally written to the staff and students at Errington Primary School thanking them for their engagement within the School Games programme and innovation towards achieving 60 active minutes for all pupils within the school to create happier, healthier lives.
They go on to write “The video created about Billy has contributed to inspiring the national network of School Games Organisers, Active Partnerships and National Governing Bodies to consider how they can tackle inequalities for children and young people in their local communities.
Billy’s story has been truly inspirational and our aspiration for the future of this school remain high.
