At the End Of March Tees Valley Collaborative Trust were delighted to invite 3 schools; North Shore academy, Hurworth School and Longfield Academy to join us on a trip to Durham University organised by our Careers Co-Ordinator Beth Cairns.
They brought a small selection of their year 9 pupils, and the trip was particularly focused on young women in STEM subjects.
We were treated to a tour of the lower Mountjoy campus, and a tour of St Mary’s college as well as taster session in Geography where we extracted and analysed sediment cores.
Then Engineering, where we competed to see who could build the longest bridge out of toothpicks and jellybeans.
We also completed a skills session and had the chance to speak to current students about their experiences.
