Two students from Prior Pursglove College have been offered places at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, after beating thousands of applicants to receive conditional offers.
The Sixth Formers impressed with their applications and at interviews and now have offers to study courses at the two of the most elite Universities in the world.
This year’s successful applicants are Jack Saville (ex-Laurence Jackson) who has received an offer to study Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge, and Rebecca Aspin (ex-Sacred Heart R C School) who has received an offer to study Earth Sciences (Geology) at the University of Oxford.
Both Jack and Rebecca are no strangers to tough competition; last year Jack was one of five students from the UK chosen to attend prestigious Science School, The Professor Harry Messel International Science School at the University of Sydney. And last year Rebecca was the Year 12/13 Girls British Schools’ Score Orienteering Champion. She beat out 10 other students from around the country for the title.
The college is not only extremely proud of the Oxbridge offers received this year, but equally of all of their students who are receiving offers from universities around the country, as well as apprenticeships and employment.
Principal of Prior Pursglove College and CEO of Tees Valley Collaborative Trust, Joanna Bailey said:
“We are delighted that the college continues to be successful in sending students to Oxford and Cambridge. Jack and Rebecca’s hard work and passion for their chosen subjects has been rewarded by these offers, competition for which is extremely fierce.
“Credit is due to our talented and dedicated staff who support our gifted students, enabling them to reach their full potential and in some cases exceed their own aspirations.
“We are extremely proud of Jack and Rebecca’s success and wish them all the very best as they look forward to embracing this incredible opportunity.”
